Holiday Cottages: Bigger Is Always Better!

Our of our larger holiday properties - Castleton House (Ref. 3075)

Currently, our largest property (Ship Inn Ref. 10424 near Colwyn Bay in North Wales) can sleep up to 32 people in 12 bedrooms. If you think it may be chaotic to get all of your family (or maybe two or three families that you are close to) together in just the one holiday house, then maybe a group of cottages in one location is a more suitable option. This is where everyone stays in perhaps 3 or 4 holiday cottages all on the same grounds – great if you want to holiday together in a group and yet at the same time retire to your own private place at the end of each day. Note: we always recommend calling us to book a group of cottages, as we need to co-ordinate the availability calendars for the various properties.

Of course, it’s not just family who you can assemble in our large holiday cottages. If you’ve got a lot of friends you haven’t seen in a while, it’s great to all go on holiday together and live together for a week in a home away from home. Our large cottages near a lake are especially popular for groups of friends – many have games rooms with snooker tables for the lads or even spa facilities on-site for the girls.

Below you will see The Round House (Ref. 3650) near Illfracombe, Devon. Sleeping up to 10 people in 5 bedrooms, it is a good example of one of our big holiday cottages.

Price is something that people forget when booking a large holiday cottage. Getting hotel rooms for 32 people for 7 nights can cost a King’s ransom. On the face of it, some of the biggest cottages may seem pricey at first glance. For example, the Ship Inn we mentioned before starts at £1,536 per week, but when you break down the price per person per night (PPPN) it works out at a ridiculously cheap £6.86 PPPN. Where else would you be able to find quality accommodation at less than £7 a night?
